MAY FISHING: The peak fishing month of the year! Everything can be caught.
FISH STORIES: I’ve been doing a lot of Tarpon fishing lately. Catching some Tarpon ranging from 20lbs. To 150+. The other day I learned a new respect for them. We hooked up a Tarpon over 150 lbs. After about 1 hour the fish just wasn’t wearing out. He had stayed in a half mile area. I figured we had to of foul hooked him, maybe behind the head. We just couldn’t control him. To make a long story short, the fish started running; went across a sand bar, under a bridge, down a canal, across a bay, between stone crab traps, over more sand bars and to the back of a bay about 2 miles from the start. Two and a half hours later the fish finally wore out the leader and off he swam. The longest fight before that was 1.5 hours.
CATCH OF THE MONTH: The next morning we landed a (139 lb, 71 inch long, 32 inch girth) Tarpon in 1 hour 15 minutes!
